Africa - A Life-Changing Experience!

Hey guys!
I have a confession to make. Mission trips are not normally my favorite activity. I would much rather do a spa day for Jesus, so you have to know that God is real when I was doing manual labor and putting up a cement wall. But we got to meet these amazing students and make new friends at IDream School. I really think a trip like this is a gift for somebody like me so I can get my priorities straight and realize that God is so present all over the world.

We went into classrooms and played games, and we prayed and sang and danced with these amazing kids that literally don't get to go home and have dinner. They don't have indoor plumbing, but they still wash their uniforms by hand and come to school sharply dressed and ready to learn.

We visited the colleges where they will all get a chance to attend if they stay in this program. We prayed with local villagers, and met mothers and grandmothers and saw their customs.
I lived in a hut, but my hut had electricity. (So I think that part is me just trying to get your attention to make me look cool.)
I know my daughter Lucy was forever changed. She is even praying about going back there for an extended trip, possibly to teach dance and English.
We adopted a family over there that we will stay in close contact with. It's overwhelming to see all the problems that need to be solved, but the best thing we can do is just take one problem that God puts on our heart and try to be a part of that solution. For at least one family, I hope that we can be the difference that gives them a better life.

The people in Zambia are warm and wonderful and loving. My biggest prayer right now is that I can keep all the things that I experienced in my heart as I live here in our blessed country, and do my best to raise awareness that there are children all over the world, like the ones that we met, who are thriving in God's joy and love.

Blessings,
Kerri
